MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
-Provides technical supervision, ensures contractors' adherence to drawings, specifications and materials, and exercises quality control.
-Maintains a measurement book.
-Arranges for testing of materials.
-Takes steps to ensure contractors' adherence to the set time schedule.
-Keeps a diary, recording day to day progress of construction.
-Prepares interim payments and final payment due to the contractor.
-Reports any discrepancies between contract documents and the work carried out by the contractor.
-Performing such other duties as may be assigned.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
-A university degree recognized by UNRWA with the major specialization in Civil or Structural Engineering.
-Possession of a valid driving license.
-Three years working experience of which two years should have been spent in maintenance/or construction and technical administration.
-Fluency in English and Arabic is essential

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
-Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $1,195.70, plus a currency adjustment factor (present rate 5.11%).
-Contract Duration: six months. Extension is subject to continued need, availability of funds and satisfactory service.
-Leave: 30 days annual leave.
-A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
