Text : What a Mysterious Pyramid!
The three pyramids of Giza constitute one of the seven wonders of the world. They are those of Cheops, Khafre and Menkaure. The great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) is the oldest. It stands in the Egyptian desert, pointing to the sky. Archaeologists say it was built about 3,000BC; but ancient Egyptian manu******s say it was before the Great Flood, over eleven thousand years ago.
For centuries, people have thought that this great mass of stone was just a tomb for the kings of Egypt, whose mummies lie inside the pyramid. But now, some people believe that this strange and giant stone knows everything about our planet Earth. Its base is almost a perfect square of 365.24 m2, the exact number of days in a year. Its side of 230.4m, its ****** of 146.5m and its weight of 6.3million tons; give us information about the size and the weight of the Earth, the distance from the Earth to the Sun, the Earth’s position in the universe and lots of other facts which we think were discovered only recently.
The more secrets we find, the more mysterious the Pyramid becomes. Is it just a record of knowledge that ancient civilizations have left for us? If it is so. How did they get this knowledge without the help of today’s technology? Was it built by travellers from space? Who
knows? The mystery might never be solved. This silent monument holds the world in its hands. Will it ever tell us its secrets?
